This is a black over red milk paint finish on a Welsh stick chair. This finishing technique creates a dark chair with the red showing through subtly on wear areas. The looks will change over time and with the use of the chair to create a rich patina.  

The chair is made from ash with a London Plane wood seat. This takes a lovely smooth finish. A steam bent arm with slender sticks makes for a delicate lightness to the upper carriage.
