Full English Windsor Chair

This is a chair I made on a course with James Mursell at The Windsor Workshop. It is an English style windsor chair. The legs are more vertical than other forms of windsor chair. It incorporates a lot of steam bent parts. The arm posts, the crinoline stretcher as well as the two bows make for a very interesting design. This is all made from ash.

This is a beautifully solid chair and perfect for use at a table. This is finished with a varnish/oil mix with beeswax on top. The finish leaves the wood a natural colour whilst enhancing the grain.

The seat is from a single plank of ash and has some stunning grain. It is one of the great pleasures of chairmaking when the first coat of finish goes onto the chair and grain comes alive.
